Classes for seniors?

I’m looking for classes I could suggest to my mom who is in her 80s and whose normal exercises (careful swimming, level walking) aren’t possible right now. She has done some yoga and pilates many years ago, but now needs something at a gentler pace, respecting more limited joint mobility, with no inversions or a lot of changes between standing / sitting / floor work. Any suggestions?

@Laurie Thank you for this question. And yes, we have some classes that your mom may appreciate. These classes fall within the Hatha and restorative styles on Glo. We are sticking with Level 1 and Level 1-2.

I think this is a huge (and so far missed) opportunity for Glo. There are many older people, (and many younger ones) who would benefit from slower yoga and pilates classes targetted specifically at their needs.

There are thousands of potential customers out there waiting for you to develop classes for them. Simply saying you have a few classes of Hatha Yoga misses the point. What about Pilates or other yoga styles? It can all be done by those less able, you just need to recognise that there is a huge demand.

Have you looked into Silver Sneakers through your mom’s insurance? I used to be an instructor and know that quite a few carriers might have taken this benefit off their plans, but it is worth checking into. There are so many different options with that program and if she can get it for free and stream it at home, all the better!
